Christopher Hastings is a Technical English Language Instructor with Saudi Logistics & Technical Support in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and a doctoral candidate in the Department of English at the University of Memphis. He is expecting to receive his Ph.D. in English with a concentration in Applied Linguistics in May 2012 for his dissertation, “Attitudes & Acculturation: A Qualitative Case Study of EFL Teachers in Saudi Arabia.”

Chris has experience teaching English as a Second Language, English as a Foreign Language, and Advanced Grammar and Teaching Methods to native speakers. Before moving to Saudi Arabia, he most recently taught ESL for the University of Texas, Texas International Education Consortium, and Austin Community College. In addition to teaching EFL in Iraq, Colombia, Brazil, and South Korea, Chris was the Educational Programs Director for Manos de Cristo, an Austin, TX immigrant service provider. His main research interests include L2 motivation, bilingual education, and storytelling in the language classroom.
